THE BODY EXPRESSIVE METHOD
The Body Expressive Method is a movement and teaching methodology that combines dance, body awareness, emotional expression, musicality and personal freedom to develop not only how we move, but how we experience and communicate through movement.
At its core, the Method recognises movement as a form of communication and personal expression, rather than simply a sequence of physical techniques. It guides people to become more aware of their bodies, develop body liberty and physical control, explore emotion and intention, and discover their own individual way of moving and expressing themselves.
For instructors, the Body Expressive Method goes beyond teaching a choreography. It provides a framework for understanding how to teach movement as an embodied experience: how to work with different bodies and levels, open students to a liberty, encourage expression, structure meaningful movement experiences, and create an environment where people can develop both physically and personally.
The Method can be applied through different Body Expressive concepts and educational pathways. Chair Dance Express explores expression, sensuality, strength and storytelling through chair-based movement; PARTYROBICS FITNESS brings the principles of musicality, energy, expression and collective experience into dance fitness; and the Body Expressive Method of Teaching Dance provides the broader framework for instructors who want to apply these principles across their own dance teaching.
The educational pathway extends from personal development to professional education and advanced mastery. Students can experience deeper individual work through Definition 1:1, instructors can develop their skills through Body Expressive Certification Trainings, and experienced instructors can progress into Master Training to deepen their methodology, teaching practice, creative development and leadership.
The Body Expressive Method is therefore not a single dance style. It is a framework for movement, expression and teaching, designed to help people move with greater awareness, freedom and intention, and to give instructors the tools to help others do the same.
THE METHOD TRANSLATED TO CREATIVE EXPERIENCES Inclusive Art
Over more than 15 years of developing the Body Expressive Method, our trainings have reached 400+ instructors from around the world, alongside thousands of students who have experienced the Method through classes, workshops and other movement experiences. Our training participants come from a wide range of backgrounds, including dancers, choreographers, dance and fitness instructors, and professionals from other movement disciplines. Some choose to fully embrace and teach a Body Expressive concept, while others take the training to expand their existing expertise with new approaches to energy, expression, musicality, embodiment and communication through movement. The Method is therefore used in different ways, depending on each professional’s background, goals and existing practice.
Body Expressive Method is created by Katarzyna Morton (INSTAGRAM) aims to move and connect all the different dimensions of a human. It works with the mind (mental health), emotions (releasing and cleaning emotions collected in the body through traumas and tensions) and it is levelled to work out the entire body, making sure all muscle groups take part in the exercises.
To do that, it uses the 4 Energy Flows Theory, accessing and training various energies in the body, that are linked to different emotions. The more you live the music and moves, the more efficient it will be. For that, the choreographies repeat for a number of classes, so you get more familiar with them and enjoy the class even more.
